Swift Systems officially welcomes Ryan Worrell, Technical Project Manager. In October 2013, Ryan joined the Swift IT team and took the reins to lead Swift’s engineering projects from inception to completion and manage all of Swift’s internal IT initiatives.
Ryan brings his recent experience from Music & Arts where he managed a team of network engineers to support the company’s day-to-day activities, handle desktop user support, implement new systems, upgrade existing platforms, and support the nation-wide retail stores. Prior to Music & Arts, Ryan worked at Dan Ryan Builders as a Systems Engineer where he supported day-to-day IT operations, network systems, access to email servers, desktop users, and remote sales offices.
Ryan has not only worked in IT services for over 10 years, but he dabbled in computer hardware as one of his earliest hobbies. He started off at a small computer repair shop building and working with PC hardware and from there continued to specialize in network systems and architecture. At that time, network systems engineering was still a new frontier.
He recalls his early IT days, “at that time, computers and networks were still largely isolated from each other, bandwidth was low, Internet security including firewalls was largely non-existent. In the year 2000, the World Wide Web was the Wild Wild West.”
At a certain point, Ryan decided, “Rather than continue to specialize in hardware, programming, or web development, I realized that networking and infrastructure design would evolve rapidly and experience wide-scale adoption. Technology was ever-changing, but the foundation of business systems networking was here to stay.”
Although Ryan is an always-on techie, he still manages to find time to race with a local cyclist team SBR Cycling and he’s currently building his very own mobile “tiny house” with future plans to venture out into unchartered territory.
IT systems are foundational to modern businesses. Too often, that foundation is unsteady. Unpredictable outages, insecure networks, and unreliable performance from mission-critical systems can jeopardize your entire business.
